The season is over and what a thrilling conclusion it was. The B team got their first win of the season. The 7th graders clawed their way back from being down 12-0 in the first quarter. The 8th graders had the undefeated eventual district champions on the ropes for the first half until our small numbers finally came back to bite us. Here are the scores:
B Team won 6-0
7A won 26-12
8A lost 48-8
Here are the FINAL season standings:
This wraps up football season. Please stay tuned for basketball season which starts the day after Thanksgiving break on the road against Cameron! Thanks to all who helped out this season with support by coming to the games, bringing food and for just being great parents that obviously have taught their children well. We all appreciate you so much!
The B team played against Reichers Cougars (Waco) at home on Thursday and ultimately came up short in the battle of Cougar supremacy. The final score was 30-6 with Candon Bruner scoring the lone touchdown for Jarrell. They fall to 0-5 on the season. Tune in next week when the Cougars travel to Rockdale for the last game of the season. The game will be on Thursday, November 9th starting at 5:00 for the B team. 7A and 8A will immediately follow. Then it's on to basketball season!
The last home game for the A teams is in the books and it was a mixed night to say the least. The night started out with the B team playing in a really exciting game that the Cougars ultimately ended up coming up short on. 7A followed in what was the most intense match of the night. The score see-sawed back and forth all night with Jarrell ultimately coming out on top. Brayden Bolyard scored four touchdowns and Jalani Price had a number of two point conversions. Thomas Kucinski made a huge 4th down sack that lead to the Cougars getting one more shot to try and end what would have been their third tie of the year. They took full advantage and are back in the win column after a couple of weeks worth of losses. The 8A game was a lot closer than the score would suggest. The Cougars moved the ball well throughout the night but couldn't manage to finish off any drives.
Here are the results:
The B team lost 14-6
7A won 34-28
8A lost 30-0
Here are the current season standings:
The next game will be a B team only game next Thursday, November 2nd here at JHS against Reichers. The week after that, we wrap up our football season with a trip to Rockdale on Thursday, November 9th. Thanks as always to the parents who have supported us all year. We couldn't do it without you.
There has been a B team game added on Thursday, November 2nd vs. Reichers here at home. The B team players will be the only ones playing as it is our bye week. The players that will be playing in this game will be notified this week so that you may have plenty of notice to plan. Please let me know if you have any questions about this. It will start at 5:00pm and have 6:00 quarters. Thanks!
The Cougars traveled to McGregor last night to take on the Bulldogs. In the 7th grade Brayden Bolyard got the night started out on the right foot by running one of the first plays of the game for an 80+ yard touchdown. On the defensive side of things J.J. Granados had a really impressive night in his first start. In the end, the Bulldogs prevailed but it was a really close game throughout. In the 8th grade, it was looking pretty bad in the first half with a score of 22-0 but the Cougars clamped down on defense in the second half giving up only six points. Thanks to Roy Straiton's kickoff return for a touchdown, the Cougars also put six on the board in the second half resulting in a second half tie. Unfortunately both halves count toward the final score so Jarrell came up short but they really responded.
Here are the scores:
7th Grade Lost 6-12
8th Grade lost 6-28
Here are the current Records:
Their next game is here in Jarrell on Thursday, October 26th against Franklin. This will be their last home game so please come out and show your support.
A special shout out to Mr. and Mrs. Carruth for getting pizza for all. It was great! Thanks as well to all the parents that donated food for the ride home.
The Cougars took on the Yoeman last night and it was a tough night for Jarrell. Both 7th and 8th grade tried really hard but ultimately came up short. Lessons were learned and effort was given so all in all, it was not a bad night. Here are the scores:
7th Grade lost 24-6
8th Grade lost 22-0
Current Season Standings:
Their next game will be AT McGregor next Thursday, October 19th. Please come out and show your support if able. The boys really appreciate it as do the coaches.
The homecoming parade will be tomorrow starting at 6:00pm. The kids need to go home after school and will be dropped off between 5:15 and 5:40 at the field house. We will be leaving at 5:45 to get in line for the parade. I asked for two trailers for each side (boys and girls) this year so please help me fill them up! After the parade, the kids will be dropped off here at the middle school in the front by the gyms. There is a gathering after the parade behind JMS by the bus loop. No cars will be allowed back there so please park in the parking lot and wait patiently for your little darlings. Please send a Remind message or an email if you have any questions. Thanks all!
The boys traveled to Troy last night and it was an evening of mixed results. The B team got us started off and had a tough time due to low numbers (lots of injuries this week!). They did their best but in the end came up short. Up next, the 7A team had the most exciting game of the night. Brayden Bolyard scored two touchdowns to keep his streak alive and Jalani Price added another. Lastly, the 8A team took the field and struggled, again due to low numbers. The final score is not really indicative of all of the good things the Cougars did on the field. A couple of key plays here and there made the game seem a lot more lopsided than it actually was.
Here are the results:
The B team lost 0-20.
7A tied yet again 20-20 (driving for the win inside the opponent's 10 and just ran out of time)
8A lost 34-0
Here are the current season records:
Their next game will be at home next Thursday, October 12th vs Cameron. Please come out and show your support. As always a special thanks to those that made the drive to Troy and also to those who helped feed our boys both before and after the game. The sausage wraps were fantastic! Until next time!
Last night's games against Academy were all very exciting! The teams went 1-1-1 on the night including a hard fought loss by the first ever B team football game in Jarrell's history. This just goes to show how much we are growing! Here are the results from last night:
The B team lost 20-6 after taking a 6-0 lead early in the 4th quarter. This is their first week playing together as a team so there are going to be some growing pains but we expect good things out of them moving forward.
The 7A team won 28-14. Brayden Bolyard had multiple touchdowns on the night showing off some impressive running. Jalani Price did a great job in his first real game of the season. Samuel Guerrero had some great runs as well. The defense played a stellar game outside of a couple of unfortunate missed tackles.
8A tied 14-14 against a very tough opponent. Roy Straiton had a great night running the ball. Candon Bruner got his first touchdown pass of the season to Jordan LaFrance. Cristobal Arredondo was a force to be reckoned with on the offensive and defensive lines. Tyler Dewitte had a great game as well but was injured late in the game. The 8th grade group has come a long way and continues to grow. I can't wait to see what they can accomplish moving forward.
Here are the current season records:
Their next game will be on the road next Thursday, October 5th AT Troy. Games will start at 5:00. Please come out and show your support if you're able. Thanks to all the parents that donated their hard earned time and money to provide both grades with Subway. We appreciate it so much! Also, thanks for being such a great crowd last night. It was really an exciting atmosphere to be a part of. Until next time!
The season has officially started now for both teams. The 7th graders played in their first real game of the season last night and the 8th graders had their first full game. Some key players were out on the 7th grade side which turned what should have been a one sided contest into a very close, back and forth game. Here are the results:
7th Grade-Tied 0-0
8th Grade-Lost 28-0
Current Season Standings:
Their next game will be on Thursday, September 28th at home vs Academy. Please come out and show your support in what hopes to be two great contests.
